Be flexible & supportive

Employees are under a lot of stress. What we're all going through is not normal, and a lot of people are juggling increased responsibilities at work (e.g. evolving roles) and at home (e.g. teacher, caretaker, etc.). If employers can be flexible (i.e. allowing for a flex schedule, giving someone that extra day off, etc.,) and help their employees maintain a more sane work life balance, employees will be in a better all around position to provide the best guest experience.

There has been no better time to lead by "what needs to be done" vs. "hours worked". In hospitality, that is hard, but allowing the team to "trade hours" in an easier fashion and frankly a market based fashion is on the horizon (I hope).

Recognizing different folks need different levels of care than their teammates, or even their pre-covid selves is going to be key here. So many mental health issues coming out of the pandemic.
